Civil society organizations , university professors , members of the parliament and representatives of political parties declared their joining to the EOHR’s campaign entitled “Freedom for detainees 6 April” .There are 86 individual join this campaign .

The campaign aims at calling the official bodies to release the detainees of 6th April who were arrested during their peaceful demonstration in various governorates of Egypt against the rise of prices, poor living conditions and unemployment. Egyptian security forces confronted the demonstrators and they were arrested in their respective governorates, especially Cairo and El Mahala city.

It is noteworthy that EOHR released this campaign as a result of arrest process that prevented the demonstrators’ right to strike and to assemble peacefully as a way to express their needs and opinions.

One main objective of the campaign is to increase governmental awareness of the right of citizens to peacefully assemble including, the right to strike, and provide help to develop the mechanisms used to support this right and make it available for citizens through the cooperation between government and NGOs .

In this regard, the Egyptian Organization will continue to call those who concerned with human rights including university professors, members of the People’s Assembly and Shura Council and representatives of political parties and trade unions to join the campaign to stop arbitrary practices against citizens while exercising their right to strike and the right to hold peaceful assembly.
