Safaga Misdemeanor Court released the owner of “Al Salam ship 98” and his son and three others from the charge of sinking about 1033 persons in the Red Sea during the voyage from “Deba” seaport to “Safaga” seaport in February 2006 in the case of “Al Salam ship 98 “ . Salah Goma ,captain of Saint Catherine ship( a ship that subsidiary to the same company) , was sentenced to 6 months imprisonment due to his refusal to stop and save the drowned persons despite his passing through them at the beginning of the disaster .

The Egyptian Organization for Human Rights (EOHR) holds a workshop entitled” The bill of Radio and Television broadcast … Whereto ?.” on Tuesday 29/7/2008 at 6:00 pm at the office of EOHR in the framework of  “Fathi Radwan Salaon “ .The workshop will include a group of  intellectuals, academics and journalists.

The Egyptian Organization for Human Rights (EOHR)expresses  its deepest worries about  what has been issued in the Egyptian newspapers on Wednesday 9/7/2008, concerning the government attempt to propose a new  bill to organize Radio & TV broadcast. After reviewing the clauses of the proposed bill , EOHR  found that the bill has several restrictions imposed on the freedom of opinion and expression .

At the end of a workshop held by The Egyptian Organization For Human Rights (EOHR)and the German Freidrich Naumann Foundation supported by the European Union in the framework of “ The Egyptian Alliance for the Freedom of NGOs “ on 2/7/2008 at Sheaphard hotel , members of the Egyptian Alliance stipulated a moral covenant for NGOs

 This covenant aims at developing the relationship between NGOs and governmental bodies and enhancing the credibility of civil society organizations upon the public opinion and mass.

The Egyptian Organization For Human Rights (EOHR) held 3 workshops on political parties , press freedom and judiciary authority in the framework of “Legislative Reform Forum “ which supported by the European Union at Dar Al Hekma in Damietta on Monday 30/6/2008 . Participants called for the necessity of activating the role of legislative parliament through expediting the enactment of new laws for political parties ,press and judiciary authority .They called for providing  adequate guarantees for the  independence of  judiciary and press freedom .
