The Egyptian Organization for Human Rights ( EOHR) and The National Council of Human Rights in the partnership with The Center of Media Freedom in the Middle East and North Africa supported by “Beyster Institute , California university ” will hold a regional conference on the right to access information entitled “Information is a right for all” on Tuesday and Wednesday , 27th ,28th January 2009 at Nile Hilton hotel . The conference will include participants who interested in the freedom of opinion and expression in general, and the free flow of information in particular , besides a group of university professors and a number of members of People’s Assembly and Shura Council and representatives of political parties and civil society activists in Egypt.

EOHR and CIHRS sent a letter to ambassador Martin Uhomoibi, President of the
UN Human Rights Council, about the developing situation in Gaza, and the increase of the Israeli attacks against civilians in the Strip, which continues until this moment.

The Egyptian Organization For Human Rights (EOHR) expresses its deepest worries about the continued detention of the protesters in peaceful demonstrations in the Egyptian governorates that took place on Friday in solidarity with people in Gaza Strip .It calls for the immediate release in accordance with the Constitution and the international covenants concerned with human rights which guarantee the right to peaceful assembly and to participate in general meetings (article 54 of the Constitution, article 21 of the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights), as well as the right to freedom of opinion and expression (article 47 of the Constitution, article 19 of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, article 19 of the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights).
