Al Sayeda Zeinab Misdemeanor Court sentences 5 journalists to a fine of 10 000 L.E

Sayeda Zeinab Misdemeanor court issued today Thursday 26 / 2 / 2009 its decision  in case No.  17532 of 2008 known as “The case of violating the publishing ban” in the case of the murder of Suzanne Tamim. The court sentenced 5 journalists from the newspapers Al-Masry Al-Youm and El-Wafd to a fine of  10 000 L.E  for each journalist . Read the rest of this entry »

The announcement of the results of the Egyptian Legislative Reform Forum

A press conference was held on Wednesday 25/2/2009 by EOHR supported by the European Union to announce the results of the legislative reform forum.

 

Mr. Hafez Abu Seada, secretary general of EOHR clarified that the forum was established in January 2007 supported by the European union. EOHR Calls for Finding out the Fate of Phillip Rizk

The Egyptian Organization for Human Rights expresses its concern over the disappearance of the citizen Phillip Maged Rizk, political activist and student of the American University in Cairo. This disappearance is a flagrant violation of the Egyptian Constitution and the international covenants on human rights regarding the protection of all people from the forced disappearance.

EOHR Submits a Number of Bills Before human rights committee in the Parliament

  At the end of a common meeting between the Egyptian Organization for Human Rights (EOHR) and  the human rights committee in the Parliament which  was held  on Sunday 8/2/2009,EOHR has submitted NGOs bill as an alternative to law No. 84 of 2002 and  another  bill to amend some articles related to torture included  in the  Penal Code and the law of criminal procedures and a number of demands concerning the political and legal reform before the committee .
