EOHR will hold a press conference to announce the results of Combating Terrorism Observatory on Wednesday 27/5/2009 at 12:00 noon at EOHR’s office.
The conference will include a group of law professors , a number of members of People’s Assembly and Shura Council and representatives of political parties and political forces and civil society activists.

At a seminar entitled” Guarantees of fair trial in the light of anti-terrorism law,” which was held by EOHR supported by European Union on Wednesday 13/5/2009 concerning the optimal model of the international legislations for the case of Egypt, participants entered into an argument as representatives of the government called for working with the Spanish law to counter terrorism , while representatives of the opposition see that the French law is the best. Participants called the legislator for abiding by standards of fair trial according to Egypt’s commitments and to give effect to the Constitution ( articles 67,68and 69).

Human rights organizations, signatories of the statement, express their deepest concerns regarding the official threats received by EOHR to dissolve the organization administratively according to the letter issued by the Ministry of Social Solidarity. These fears are not being alleviated by the statements of some officials from the Ministry of Social Solidarity published in some newspapers denying any intention of the ministry to lockout EOHR, as long as there is no formal response to disapprove this letter , then the press statement is not a formal or legal procedure that corrects what came in the letter of questioning organization under Article 42 of NGOs law which allows the Minister of Social Solidarity to issue a decision to dissolve any association.
