EOHR holds a press conference to announce the results of Combating Terrorism Observatory on next Wednesday

EOHR will hold a press conference to announce the results of Combating Terrorism Observatory on Wednesday 27/5/2009 at 12:00 noon at EOHR’s office.

 The conference will include a group of law professors , a number of members of People’s Assembly and Shura Council and representatives of political parties and political forces and civil society activists.

Mr. Hafez Abu Seada, Secretary General of EOHR, confirmed that the press conference will be held in the framework of ” Combating Terrorism observatory through promoting   democracy” which started its activity in February 2008 supported by European Union .He added that the main goal of the observatory is to support the democratic development in Egypt through monitoring and controlling the impact of the inclusion of terrorism combating articles in the constitutional amendments on this development, and on the other hand the impact of terrorism law on this development.

 

 

Abu Seada added that during the press conference, a report will be distributed , it will include a definition of combating Terrorism observatory, shedding light upon its goals , mechanisms , and the evaluation of its activities , stipulating different visions for law No. 97 of 1992, the evaluation of the new bill of Anti Terrorism Law prepared by the governmental committee, as well as highlighting the  most important recommendations of the observatory.
