The Egyptian Organization for Human Rights (EOHR) in cooperation with the German Friedrich Naumann Foundation will hold a press conference entitled ” Towards a democratic rules for the Egyptian civil society” on Tuesday 20/10/2009 at 12:00 PM at its office . This conference will include a number of representatives of political parties, trade unions and NGOs and human rights activists.
Mr. Hafez Abu Seada, Secretary-General of EOHR clarified that rules or principles of democracy will be announced during the press conference to regulate the conduct of civil society which represented in political parties, trade unions and NGOs, regarding that the right to peaceful assembly and organization is one of the main rights guaranteed according to the Constitution and international covenants. Abu Seada confirmed that these rules are consistent with international standards as he expresses his hope for these rules to be applied soon, leading to a free civil society.
