At the end of a seminar entitled “Towards a free information society” held by The Egyptian Organization for Human Rights in cooperation with the Center for Media Freedom in Middle East and North Africa – Morocco websoft with the support of Beyster Institute -California University on 22/11/2009 at EOHR’s office, a number of journalists , media personnel , legal experts , some representatives of Parliament , professionals of information systems and human rights activists agreed to establish a coalition for the freedom of information depending on the international standards . They call the government for declaring the bill prepared in this regard and managing a social dialogue accordingly.

At the end of a seminar entitled “The Egyptian coalition for the integrity of civil society ” which was held on Wednesday 18/11/2009 by EOHR in cooperation with the German Friedrich Naumann Foundation, representatives of civil society organizations call for the establishment of a coalition for integrity and transparency as an independent entity with legal personality depending on international standards and principles and rules of good governance.

The Egyptian Organization for Human Rights ( EOHR) expresses its deepest worries on some of the individual behaviors by some Algerians against the Egyptian community in Algeria, EOHR has received a telephone call on Tuesday 17/11/2009 from some Egyptian workers at Orascom company informing that about 1950 Egyptian workers confined inside their houses in Wahran and Shahria camp , among a siege of Algerians , and the inability of the security to intervene and help them, which constitutes a violation of the right to liberty and security of person guaranteed under international covenants on human rights.

The Egyptian Organization for Human Rights and the German Friedrich Naumann Foundation will hold the first meetings of the “Alliance of the integrity of the Egyptian civil society” next Wednesday 18/11/2009 at 2:00 PM at EOHR’s office. The meeting will include representatives of political parties , NGOs and trade unions such as Mr. Hussein Abdul-Razek, former Secretary-General of Al Tagamou party , Abdul Ghafar Shoukr, leader at Al Tagamou party , Mr. Farok Al Ashry, member of defense committee of democracy and Dr. Gihan Oada, chief of political science department at Helwan University.

The Egyptian Organization for Human Rights welcomes the recent report of the United Nations Special Rapporteur on the promotion and protection of human rights in the light of combating terrorism, it calls the government for the implementation of its recommendations in an effort to enact a new bill to combat terrorism.
