EOHR launches a campaign to abolish the tax on housing

  The Egyptian Organization for Human Rights launched a campaign against the imposition of tax on the right to housing as the right to adequate housing is considered an essential element to ensure human dignity, this is in order to convince the Egyptian legislator  to amend the law of  real estate tax

to conform with article 11 of the International Covenant on Economic and  Social rights , the  comments of the UN Committee for Economic and Social Rights, paragraph A of Article 25 of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights which were  ratified by the Egyptian government. This campaign aims at abolishing the imposition of taxes on housing  to protect the right of citizens to adequate housing and only impose such a tax on owners of real estate units of a different nature of   housing , and the owners of more than one unit . EOHR calls all citizens and institutions of civil society organizations and representatives of trade unions, political parties, research centers and specialists at the governorates level to join this campaign.
