On 28/4/2010, Cairo Criminal Court -State Security of Emergency issued its decision in case No. 66 – 2009 known by Hezbollah case which included 26 defendants :two Lebanese, five Palestinians and 19 Egyptians including 4 fugitives. The court sentenced defendants to imprisonment terms ranging from six months up to life imprisonment as three fugitive defendants were sentenced to life imprisonment , three defendants to 15 years imprisonment, one defendant to 11 years imprisonment, 15 defendants to 10 years imprisonment, one defendant to 7 years imprisonment, one defendant to 3 years imprisonment and another one to 6 months imprisonment. On Tuesday, 27/04/2010 The Egyptian Organization for Human Rights (EOHR) issued its qualitative report entitled ” For defending the rights of Egyptians in Kuwait.. Arbitrary deportation is a sanction for freedom of opinion and expression” in order to reflect the reality of violations committed against Egyptians in Kuwait in a clear infringement to the international conventions concerned with the Protection of the Rights of All Migrant Workers and Members of Their Families as well as to the international agreements on the right to freedom of opinion and expression and the right to peaceful assembly. Referring 5 members of Muslim Brotherhood to the Supreme State Security Court of Emergency
On Thursday, 04/22/2010 the Attorney-General, Mr. “Abdel Meguid Mahmoud,” issued a decision of referring both of Dr. Ashraf Abdel Ghaffar, assistant Secretary-General of the Medical Syndicate and Wajdi Abdel Hamid Ghoneim, Islamic preacher, Awad Mohamed Qarni Saudi nationality and Islamic preacher, Osama Mohamed Suleiman, chairman of the board of Al Sabah company for exchange and Ibrahim Moneiur Mostafa to the Supreme State Security Court of Emergency in a clear violation to the right to fair trial which is guaranteed according to the constitution and international covenants concerned with human rights. The Egyptian Organization For Human Rights (EOHR) submitted a new documents to the Attorney General in the case of the investigation with the two members of the parliament who called for shooting demonstrators, the documents enclosed with a CD of the speech of the two members for “Alb Masr” TV program and a memorandum explaining the crimes they committed. The Egyptian Organization for Human Rights (EOHR)expresses its deepest condemnation on the statements of “Hassan Nashaat Al Kasas ” and “Ahmad Abu Akrab”, members of the Parliament affiliated to the National Democratic Party (NDP ) to shoot demonstrators . Abu Seada proposes a mechanism for coordinating between the government and civil society organizations to put recommendations of Geneva in action
At the end of meeting held by Dr. Mufid Shehab, Minister of State for Legal and Parliamentary Affairs on Thursday 15/4/2010 with representatives of the Ministerial Committee concerned with the periodic review mechanism, some members of the National Council for Human Rights and some representatives of civil society organizations in Cairo and other governorates, Mr. Hafez Abu Seada, chairman of EOHR, has proposed to establish a continued and regular mechanism for coordinating between the government represented by the Ministerial Committee concerned with the mechanism of the universal periodic review on the status of human rights in Egypt and the National Council for Human Rights and civil society organizations. The Egyptian Organization For Human Rights (EOHR) expresses its deepest worries on the incident of the death of “Fadl abdellah”, Egyptian citizen, at “Dermwas” police station , Menya governorate. The death – according to the complaint submitted by his family- was due to torture till death. So EOHR calls the Attorney General for the immediate investigation into the incident. EOHR submitted a complaint on Sunday 11/04/2010 to the Kuwaiti Ambassador in Cairo, The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the National Council For Human Rights on arresting and deporting 34 Egyptians by the Kuwaiti authorities on 8th and 9th April 2010, due to their meeting to sign on the statement of the National Assembly For Change.
