EOHR holds a seminar entitled” Treatment at the State’s expense ” next Monday

EOHR will hold  a seminar entitled ” Treatment at the state’s expense ” on 26/7/2010 at 12:00 PM at  EOHR’s office. Members of Shura Council, representatives of political parties, human right’s activists and a group of specialists will participate in the seminar.

Mr. Hafez Abu Seada, chairman of EOHR, confirmed that the right to heath considers one of the fundamental rights which the states intend to provide it to citizens without discrimination or delay as this right is related to another right which is the right to life. The delay in providing a good health service may lead to the death of the person. He also confirmed that despite the fact that the right to life is guaranteed under the Constitution and the international covenants concern  with human rights which  the Egyptian government has ratified and became part and parcel from its internal law according to article 151 of the Constitution. However, the real situation is  contrary to  what has been mentioned,  starting from health insurance and the heath services provided to citizens, also the grave violations committed against the treatment system at the expense of the state.

Abu Seada added that the treatment at the expense of the State is one of the core files for the system of economic and social rights in Egypt as the issue is related to millions of Egyptians who live mostly below the poverty line, stressing that the seminar aims at discussing the nature of the treatment at the expense of the State in Egypt with shedding light on pros and cons and to bring up the problems related to it and mechanisms for confrontation, with emphasis on the recent accusations against certain members of the parliament  with regard to treatment decisions, indicating the extent of the validity of these decision,  ending with the controllers for those decisions to ensure that all citizens are enjoying with their right to good health care.
