EOHR holds a Seminar on ” The Role and the Performance of the High Commission on Elections during 2010 Parliamentary Elections”

EOHR will hold a seminar in its headquarter, on Monday 27-12-2010, at 5 pm, entitled ” The Role and the Performance of the High Commission on Elections, during 2010 Parliamentary Elections”. A number of university professors,  intellectuals, members of the Egyptian Parliament and Al Shura Council, Egyptian political parties leaders and NGOs activists will participate in this seminar.

Mr. Hafez Abu Seada, the Chairman of EOHR stated that this seminar will discuss the legal obligations and the duties of the High Commission on Elections, and its commitment to protect the rights of all candidates and voters,  during its supervision on 2010 parliamentary elections.

 

Mr. Abu Seada added that it will be necessary to detect any error or any legal loophole that may had lead to the prevention of the High Commission on Elections from doing its duties properly during its supervision on 2010 parliamentary elections. As well as proposing legal and practical suggestions in order to help in developing and reforming the performance of the High Commission on Elections, and enabling it to do the role we expect in the manner which is consistent with the protection of the constitutional and legal rights for every candidate and voter, and with regard to the Egyptian commitments to the international conventions  on civil and political rights. 

 

Among the participants in the seminar are, Mr. Ibrahim Darwish the law professor at Cairo University, Mr. Ahmed Abd El Hafeez the lawyer at the Court of Cassation & the chairman deputy of EOHR, Mr. Hussien Abd El Ghanni the ex-director of AlJazeera office in Cairo, Mr. Hussien Abd El Razeq the ex-secretary General for Al Tagamou  Party, Dr. Diaa Rshwan the director deputy for Al Ahram Center for Political and Strategic Studies, Dr. Atef El Bana the constitutional law professor at Cairo University, Mr. Abd El Ghafaar Shoukr the director deputy for the Center for Arab & African Research, Mr. Essam Al Islambouly the lawyer at the Court of Cassation, Mr. Essam Shieha the lawyer at the Court of Cassation & the member of the high commission of Al Wafd Party, Mr. Fareed Zahraan the director of Al Mahroussa Center, Mr. Mohammed Anwar El Saddat the Chairman of the Reform and Development Party and Mr. Wael Nawara the Secretary General of Al Ghad Party & the Chairman of NAL.
