EOHR monitors the Journalist Syndicate elections

On October 26, 2011, the Egyptian Journalist Syndicate holds the president and board members’ elections. The syndicate general assembly’s Quorum has been achieved, when the number of participating members came to 2956, at 3 pm.

On one hand, the electoral process witnessed some violations; the candidates did not commit the electoral campaign expenditure ceiling; some candidates used exaggerated number of stickers and others used popular musical bands.

On the other hand, there have been some positive occurrences such as having no national or governmental authorities supporting any of the candidates. National entities used to provide unaccepted support to their candidates during the elections run in the lat decades.
