EOHR forms an operation room for receiving protester’s complaints

In the framework on emphasizing the right to peaceful assembly, the Egyptian Organization for Human Rights (EOHR) announces forming an operation room and a network for legal support for the peaceful protesters celebrating one year after the revolution, on January 25, 2012. The operation room, located at EOHR office includes the lawyers of the Legal Support Unit in addition to lawyers located in the Egyptian governorates to receive the protesters’ complaints for any violations. Local civil society organizations refuse the new NGO code and draft another one instead

The representatives of the local and international civil society organizations refused the draft law submitted by the Egyptian government altogether, in the framework of the press conference entitled “Free Civil Society”, held on January 22, 2012, at the headquarters of the Egyptian Organization for Human Rights (EOHR). The draft law does not provide any freedom to the civil society organizations for doing their purposed tasks aimed at spreading the principals of human rights and democracy. EOHR holds a meeting for launching the “Free Civil Society” campaign

The Egyptian Organization for Human Rights (EOHR) holds an open discussion meeting for the Egyptian civil society organizations on January 19, 2012 in order to launch the “Free Civil Society” campaign, which aims at drafting a new code for NGOs instead of code no. 84, year 2002. The meeting, held at the headquarters of EOHR, will be participated by political and human rights activists, representatives of civil society organizations and political parties and professors of law. EOHR calls for dropping the charges of the civil protesters
