The Egyptian Organization for Human Rights (EOHR) calls upon the Supreme Council for Armed Forces not to renew the state of Emergency, when it is over on May 31, 2012. The members of the Constitutional and Legislative Committee of the Egyptian People’s Assembly refused the proposal of the Egyptian Ministry of Justice for amendment of the penal code to add article 86 b to the law. The new article mentioned that those who receive, or make it easier to receive amounts of money from any person or agency in abroad in order to commit a crime, are punished with imprisonment. On May 24, 2012, the Egyptian Federation for Election Observation submitted the seventh official complaint to the Supreme Juridical Presidential Election Commission against early closing of polling stations, clashes of the candidates’ supporters and electoral bribes.
