The Egyptian Coalition for Election Observation holds a press conference to declare the presidential election observation mission

The Egyptian Coalition for Election Observation holds a press conference to declare launching the presidential election observation mission. The conference will be held on May 22, 2012, 12 pm, at the headquarters of the Egyptian Organization for Human Rights (EOHR), 8/10 Mothaf El Manial St., Nile Corniche, close to Fatin Hamama Cinema, Al Roda, Cairo, Egypt.

The Egyptian Coalition for Electoral Observation includes 128 development and human rights’ civil society organizations, in 26 governorates countrywide. The coalition has formed an equipped operation room for receiving the statements of the local observers on the situation in the polling stations. The operation room, located at the Egyptian organization for Human Rights (EOHR), includes specialized officers from EOHR and other NGOs of the Egyptian coalition.

The Egyptian Coalition for Election Observation is monitoring the Egyptian presidential elections, starting with submitting candidates’ applications, electoral campaigns, election day, voting and result announcing.

Mr. Hafez Abu Seada, the head of EOHR, stated that the main purpose of  the electoral observation mission is observing and documenting all the electoral process’s positive and negative aspects and make sure that the entire process is fair, clear and transparent, in order to achieve the rule of law and democracy, as soon as possible.
