EOHR releases a report entitled “Suez incident … an alarm for the return of the violent era of the nineties”

EOHR released on Wednesday the 11th of July 2012 a report covering the results of the investigation mission sent by the organization to Suez. The mission was meant to investigate the murder of a young university student earlier this month.

The report included the following points:

  • Violence in Egypt since the nineties till the Suez incident.
  • Testimonies from Suez.
  • Reasons for violence.
  • Conclusion and recommendations.

EOHR stresses that the Suez incident is considered a major violation of basic human rights and freedoms as dictated in international accords.
