EOHR Denounces the Threat of the Minister of Investment to Satellite Television Channels

The Egyptian Organization for Human Rights (EOHR) expresses its most grave concern regarding the threat issued by Minister of Investment Osama Salah to satellite television channels throughout the country.  The Minister has declared the imposition of a punitive system of issuing warnings, notices, suspensions, and ultimately the revocation of licenses when deemed necessary.  With a full comprehension of the implications of such an endeavor, EOHR considers this a strong indication of a serious decline in the status of the freedoms of opinion, expression, and the press under the new presidential regime. Dahshour sectarian violence

The Egyptian Organization for Human Rights (EOHR) denounces the acts of violence that took place in Dahshour Village in Badrishin.  Groups of Muslims and Christians clashed in the village when a Christian laundry assistant burned clothes of a Muslim person last week. The laundry person killed the Muslim person. The relatives of the victim, Moaz Mohamed Ahmed, 25 years, burned a number of Christians’ houses of in the area in addition to a jewel store. 15 policemen were injured during the clashes.
