“Rights and Freedoms within the new Constitution” A Workshop to be Held Next Thursday

On Thursday, the 6th of September 2012, EOHR will be hosting a workshop entitled “Rights and Freedoms within the New Constitution,” at one pm, Pyramisa Hotel, Dokki.  Attending the seminar will be professors of constitutional law and political science, Members of the People’s Assembly and the Shura Council, representatives of the various political parties, and prominent human rights’ activists.

The seminar will cover three important themes:  (1) the Constituent Assembly’s suggestions concerning specified rights and freedoms within the constitution (a critical view), (2) Arab and international constitutional experiences (learned lessons), and (3) suggested principles concerning the rights and freedoms to be enshrined in the new constitution.

Dr. Mustafa Kamel El-Sayed, Professor of Political Science, will be among the participants as well as Mr. Essam Sheeha, Cassation Attorney and a Board Member of the El-Wafd Party.   Mrs. Nihad Abu El-Komsan, President of the Egyptian Center for Women’s Rights and a member of the National Council for Women, Dr. Ayman Noor, President of Al Ghad Revolution Party, Mr. Fareed Zahran, Director of El-Mahroosa Center, and Mr. George Ishaq, former member of the National Council for Human Rights will also be attending the seminar.
