EOHR declares solidarity to the Egyptian judges

The Egyptian Organization for Human Rights (EOHR) declares solidarity to the judges of the Egyptian court of cassation and the courts of appeal against the recently issued constitutional declaration encroaching into the juridical power and seriously violating the international standards on the independence of judiciary particularly the Universal Declaration on the Independence of Justice issued by Montreal Conference in 1983.  Read the rest of this entry »

The Constituent Declaration is an Affront to Egypt

EOHR mourns the demonstration victims

The Youngman is now famous of being the first martyr of Morsi regime. New constitutional declaration Gives Morsi sweeping powers and deals lethal blow to judicial independence

The undersigned rights organizations announce their unequivocal rejection of the constitutional declaration issued by the president on November 22 and demand its immediate revocation. These organizations believe that the president has contravened the revolution’s goals of democratization and exploited the expansive powers he granted to himself shortly after his election to arrogate unparalleled powers and immunize his decisions against judicial oversight, thus precluding the possibility of any challenges or opposition to them by legal and judicial means. Unknowns firebomb Al-Jazeera office

The Egyptian Organization for Human Rights (EOHR) denounces firebombing one of the offices of satellite broadcaster Al-Jazeera in the third day of violence in central Cairo, November 21, 2012. The unidentified individuals attacked the studio overlooking Tahrir Square with Molotov cocktails and petrol bombs early Wednesday, leaving it gutted by fire hours later. When will death trains stop?

Incident location: Mandara Train Stop in Manfalot

Incident description:

On Saturday, November 21, 2012, the train no. 165 coming from Assuit, going towards Minia, crashed Al Nour Azhar Institute’s student bus while crossing Al Mandara Train Stop, between the areas of Al Khawanka and Manfalot. 53 people were found dead, including children and school employees.
