The Egyptian Organization for Human Rights (EOHR) denounces the violence attacks against thinkers, journalists and media specialists which resurrect the human rights violations witnessed in Egypt before the revolution.

EOHR calls the Egyptian government to open an immediate investigation on attempting murder of the journalist Abdel Galil Al Sharnoby, the former editor in chief of Ikhwan on Line Website. Al Sharnoby has defected from Muslim Brotherhood in 2011. The journalist came under fire in his car while coming with his friends from Shebin Al Kanater on November 5, 2012. The perpetrators escaped without stealing any of his belongings!

EOHR also calls for immediate investigation on threatening and insulting the journalist Said Shuaeb and his wife, the journalist Islam Azzam following criticizing Islamists in their writings. The threatening messages were under signed “The Promotion of Virtue and Prevention of Vice”. Said Shuaeb filed the official report no. 4049, year 2012, Prosecutor General Office, on the threatening incident.
