Demonstration Law Restricting the Right to Public Participation

The Egyptian Organization for Human Rights (EOHR) expresses intensive worry about the declaration issued by the Egyptian Shura Council restricting the right to protest in public places. This law was issued once before by the Egyptian Ministry of Justice. That time, the Egyptian political powers called upon the ministry to get it amended, but again it was issued by the same ministry, which has not met any of the political powers’ demands. HEC Issues Decision Permitting International NGOs’ Election Follow-up

The Egyptian Organization for Human Rights (EOHR) welcomes the decision of the High Election Commission (HEC) regarding the international civil society organizations’ upcoming parliamentary elections’ follow-up in 2013. The decision included allowing foreign civil society organizations and international organizations working in the area of election follow-up, human rights, support for democracy, foreign election bodies and commissions to follow up the Lower House elections for 2013; according to a set of controls. EOHR Calls upon Morsi to handle the case of Ahmed Al Gizawy

The Egyptian Organization for Human Rights (EOHR) is deeply concerned about sentencing of the Egyptian lawyer Ahmed Al-Gizawy imprisonment of 5 years and 300 lashes, which is a violation to the right to bodily integrity and the right to fair trial. Gamal Fahmy Appears in the Prosecution General Office

The Egyptian Organization for Human Rights (EOHR) expresses sorrow for referral of columnist Gamal Fahmy, Director of the Egyptian Journalists Syndicate on Wednesday, 01/09/2013 to the public prosecution office for his statements mentioning that the death of Husseini Abu Deif, a journalist of Al Fagr Newspaper, came as a result of exposing the fact that the husband of President Morsy’s sister was released under presidential pardons; The president’s relative was sentenced in bribery case.
