EOHR initiated the third training course of how to eliminate the crime of torture in Egypt.

On Tuesday, September 10, 2013, EOHR opened the third training course for capacity building of Egyptian university students, activists and journalists to deal with the crime of torture at the headquarters of the organization and form a network of those who are interested in the crime of torture, in order to contribute to the eradication of this phenomenon, which violates the most basic human rights of the mere Egyptian citizens. EOHR demands a prompt release of the Journalist, Ahmed Abu Deraa

EOHR condemns the arrest of the Journalist Ahmed Abu Deraa, a correspondent for Al-Masry Al-Youm Journal, ONTV Channel, and other international media. Ahmed was arrested in North of Sinai, and was referred to The Military Court; as he was covering the incidents of bombing the villages of Toma and Al-Mokataa by army forces. Military Prosecution in Ismalyia has accused of spreading news about The Egyptian Army, and he was decided to stay in custody for 15 days under investigations. Read the rest of this entry »

EOHR is holding the third training session entitled “How to eliminate the crime of torture,” on Tuesday and Wednesday, September 10-11, 2013, at the headquarters of the Organization; that session aims at forming a network of people interested in the crime of torture in Egypt, and how to contribute in eradicating it; as torture is considered to be a violation of the basic human rights of the mere Egyptian Citizen. EOHR demands a prompt investigation of the incident of a car bomb explosion in-front of the house of The Minister of Interior.

The Egyptian Organization for Human Rights expresses its grave concern about the incident of a car bomb explosion in front of General Mohamed Ibrahim’s, Interior  Minister, house in Nasr City; targeting his convoy. Civil Society representatives demand the Ministry of Social Solidarity to consolidate the role of civil society organizations within the Egyptian Society in the new law.
