Observatory for violence has continued its monitoring to violent incidents that have taken place in the country recently. The current wave of violence still threatens the country; as its main aim is to spread chaos and political instability within the country in order to spread terror amongst the citizens and to undermine any attempt towards achieving supremacy of the law. The Egyptian Constitution: The new articles addressing torture are good, but a law is needed to stipulate protection from the crime of torture.

EOHR welcomes the new articles stipulates by the committee of the 50 that is responsible for amending the  Egyptian constitution; the articles are 37, 37(A), 38, and 39, under the chapter of “Freedoms, Rights, and Public Duties”, that are concerned with the human dignity, the crime of torture, equality, and personal freedom. EOHR concludes the fourth workshop of “How to Combat the Crime of Torture in Egypt.”

EOHR has concluded the fourth workshop on Wednesday, 30 October, 2013 to build the capacity of university students, activists, and journalists to deal with the crime of torture in Egypt. The main goal of the workshop is to form a network of those who are concerned with the file of torture in Egypt; this network will participate in eliminating the phenomenon of torture in the society that violates the minimum rights of the Egyptian Citizen. Anti- terrorism Observatory demands a prompt investigation of the Virgin Mary Church incident

EOHR denounces the assault that has taken place Sunday, 20th of October 2013, on the citizens in front of the Virgin Mary Church in Al- Warak region in Giza Governorate. EOHR demands a prompt investigation of the torture incident of the citizen Ahmed Ezz El-Din Issa

EOHR expresses its deep concern about the received information of the torture of the citizen Ahmed Ezz El-Din Ali Ahmed Issa inside a police station in the Public station of Desouk in Kafr El-Sheikh. This case reflects the continuous cases of torture even after the 25th of January and 30th of June Revolutions; thus the Organization asks the Attorney General to open immediate and urgent investigation of the incident. Anti- terrorism Observatory: EOHR demands a prompt investigation of the incident of a car bomb explosion in front of the military intelligence building in Ismailia

EOHR strongly condemns the terrorist operation, which took place on Saturday, 19th of October 2013, has targeted the Military Intelligence Office in Ismailia by using a car bomb; resulting in injuries of five office members , as well as partial damages in the outer fence of the Intelligence Office. The new law of demonstration: Regress not a progress

EOHR expresses its deep concern regarding the new law of demonstration that is intended to be issued; as that law will put many restrictions on the right of demonstration to the extent of its confiscation, especially that the law doesn’t include any conditions and clauses for the restriction of the right of demonstration that are compatible with the international standards of human rights. As long as there is no violence or property damage, then demonstrations are considered a right for each and every citizen as stipulated by international conventions and standards of human rights, also these international standards have protected freedom of opinion and expression.
