EOHR will hold a conference entitled “The grantees of the forthcoming electoral process”, on Sunday, December 1st, 2013 in Pyramisa Hotel in Dokki. The participants will be a number of university professors, representatives of political parties, civil society activists and some political and social forces representatices.
The conference aims to discuss a range of important issues which are the basic principles to ensure the integrity of the forthcoming electoral process with regard to; the role of the Supreme Judicial Committee supervising the electoral process, the division of constituencies, the international and domestic monitoring of the electoral process, the guarantees of the integrity of the electoral, voting, and sorting processes, the following up of the media to the electoral process, the observing of the election campaigns of the candidates in both respects of propaganda and financial expenditure, and the learned lessons from the prior experiences of elections.
From his side, Hafez Abu Saada, President of EOHR, has explained the importance of the guarantees of the integrity of the forthcoming electoral process, because it will ensure legitimacy of the results of the both parliamentary and presidential elections, which will create public and societal acceptance of these elections and their results, and reflect on the democratic development process.
The participants of the conference will be: The chancellor Mohamed Amin El-Mahdi; Minister of Transitional Justice, Dr. Yahya El-Gaml; Constitutional Law professor at Cairo University, Mr. Essam al-Islambouli; Cassation Lawyer , Mr. Farid Zahran; Vice-Chairman of the Egyptian Social Democratic Party, Dr. Magdi Abd El-Hamid; President of the Egyptian Association for Community Participation Enhancement, Dr. Mahmoud El-Ayali; Member of the High Commision of the Liberal Egyptian Party, Mrs. Farida El-Nakash; Editor of the newspaper ‘El-Ahli’, Mr. Emad El-Din Hussein; Editor Manager of the newspaper ‘El-Shuruq’, Mr. George Isaac; Member of the National Council for Human Rights, Dr. Mustafa Nasharti; Management Professor at the University of Egypt of Science and Technology, Dr. Osama Ghazali Harb; An Expert at Al Ahram Center for Political and Strategic Studies , and Eng. Hamdi El- Fakharani; Former Member of the Parliament, Mr. Essam Shiha; Member of the supreme body of El-Wafd Party , Dr. Ammar Ali Hassan; Political Sociology Researcher, and Mr. Abd El-Ghaffar Shukr; Vice-President of the National Council for Human Rights.
