EOHR demands the Security Council to intervene for ceasefire in Gaza

In the light of the tragedy of the Israeli aggression to Gaza, the Egyptian Organization for Human Rights (EOHR) demands for a quick action of the UN Security Council to limit the dangerous escalation of the Israeli occupation forces in Palestine, urging the ceasefire and the respect of the truce achieved in November 2012, and for the implementation of the Egyptian Initiative to stop bloodshed. EOHR condemns the terrorist incident in Al-Arish and demands for the quick arrest of the perpetrators

 

The Egyptian Organization for Human Rights strongly condemns the events of Al-Arish (in the North-Sinai Governatorate), that witnessed the fall of rockets on Sunday night, 13 July 2014, killing 8 people and injuring 33. The Federation for Human Rights and Transitional Justice demands for a more democratic law on NGOs and liberalization of the civil work

The Federation for Human Rights and Transitional Justice read the NGOs draft law proposed by the Ministry of Social Solidarity[1], and it finds the draft is totally far from the committment to the international standards which ensure the freedom and independence of the civil work and protect it from any form of arbitrary interventions and administrative commandments. This represents a blatant violation of the Constitution and Egypt international obligations that, if approved, will result in the criminalization of the work of these organizations and will subject them to the control of the administrative authorities.
