The Egyptian Organization for Human Rights (EOHR) launches its second initiative for the release of the prisoners, after its first initiative for the release of students imprisoned on remand according to the Law on demonstrations, whose involvement in violent acts has not been proved, and calls for their release taking into account their early age and in order to protect their future.
Believing in its role of human rights and their supreme values defense, the Organization launches its second initiative for the release of all prisoners whose involvement in violent acts has not been proved, ensuring that its doors and telephones are open to the complaints of the families of these prisoners in the various Egyptian governorates.
The Organization believes in the freedom-depriving nature of the imprisonment, since it is a punishment and therefore it must be imposed only through a court ruling after a fair trial in which self-defense is fully guaranteed to the defendant, in pursuance of the assets of criminal trials. It is a human right, since human origin is innocence.
Therefore the Organization calls for the release of all the prisoners on remand in those cases in which their involvement in the use of violence or weapons has not been proved.
