The Egyptian Organization for Human Rights (EOHR) Terrorism Observatory condemns the Al Arish terrorist attacks and demands the apprehension of the terrorists

The Egyptian Organization for Human Rights condemns the cowardly act of terrorism that took the lives of several martyrs, and injured many on the 29th of January 2015 in Northern Sinai. EOHR demands the apprehension of those criminals, so that they can stand to justice.

Terrorists staged attacks on several military and security establishments in the city of Al Arish using car bombs, and mortars leading to 30 dead, and 69 wounded. Among the victims were a number of civilians, as well as security and military personnel, who were the main targets of these attacks.

EOHR sends its sincere condolences to the families of the martyrs, and prays that they rest in peace in God’s grace. In that respect, EOHR repeats and reaffirms its condemnation to these terrorist acts, as they are a clear violation of rights and freedoms stipulated and reaffirmed by international treaties and conventions. The most important of those rights is the right to life and security. EOHR believes that the war on the dark forces of terror is a war for the nation, and that terrorism threatens the core foundations of Human Rights.EOHR implores the government to take stronger measures to secure public buildings against potential terrorist attacks. EOHR demands the intensifying of international efforts to combat terrorism, on the military, security, cultural, and media levels because of the grave danger it poses.

From his Mr. Hafez Abu Seada the president of EOHR said that these bomb attacks that target buildings and individuals are unacceptable, and is not related to religion or principles whatsoever, adding that terrorism requires a total confrontation from civil forces bearing in mind the necessity of the preservation of Human Rights and the right to fair trial. Abu Seada stressed that these attacks will not affect the moral or the will of the Egyptian people to destroy the roots of terror that threaten this nation. Abu Seada also called upon the Egyptian people to stand shoulder to shoulder to confront these terrorist attacks adding that the perpetrators of these acts, who disregard human life, the law, and Human Rights.
