Assault on a police bus in El-Beheira… a message to the government to fight terrorism

The Egyptian Organization for Human Rights condemned the assault, which occurred on Monday morning 24/8/2015 by a group of terrorists on a police bus near to Edfina police station in Beheira[1] which led to the death of three people and injuring about 24 others.

The Interior Ministry bus was carrying a group of police officers and was heading to Rashid city, and while it was passing a bomb exploded in the bus, which led to the death of three police officers, and 24 others have been transferred to the Rashid General Hospital, including three in serious condition was transferred to the police Hospital in Alexandria.

“EOHR” emphasizes that terrorist acts taking place in Egypt is a crime that cannot be justified under any circumstances, and it also emphasizes the need to advance professionally in the performance of the police, and the use of modern techniques in the investigation and information gathering methods, which prevent the occurrence of such crimes.

“EOHR” also stresses that the repetition of the terrorist attacks requires decisive action from the state to face such terrorist attacks that threaten security and public safety, and the terrorist attacks are considered as a violation of the human right to life which is one of the most sacred rights at all.

Accordingly, “EOHR” is demanding the Egyptian government and the Interior Ministry to take all actions to arrest the perpetrators of this criminal incident and bring them to justice so as to be a deterrent for those who threaten the security of this country and terrorize innocent citizens.

For his part, “Hafez Abu Saada” –the head of EOHR- said that the recurrence of terrorist attacks is a challenge to the Egyptian state, and it is important for civil society, political parties and state institutions to be united to stand in the face of these terrorist attacks that threaten peace and security.

Abu Seada added that these criminal attacks Contrary to the principles of the religions and the principles of human rights, and it is considered as a violation of international human rights law, as it represents at the same time a threat to peace and security.

Abu Seada also demanded the quickly arrest of the perpetrators, and bring them to the fair trial, in order to be a deterrent for those who threaten the security of this country and violate the fundamental rights and freedoms guaranteed by law.
