EOHR held the third training session for the supervisors of the upcoming parliamentary elections at Fayoum Governorate. This training session took place on Friday and Saturday 16th and 17th of October, 2015.

Trainers emphasized the significance of electoral supervision on local, regional, and international levels. Supervision of the electoral process is crucial to the transparency and democracy of the elections,

Trainers further stated the importance of supervision to civil society organizations, inclusive of EOHR, for the purpose of tracing violations during the electoral processes. EOHR does not take part in any political parties nor does it support any one candidate per say; EOHR remains unbiased while primarily working to guarantee that all political parties’ decisions and actions coincide with the constitution, the rule of law, and international standards of human rights.

The training session introduced methods of supervision and provided instructions on report writing to build capacity and establish durable connections in the rum of electoral supervision.

EOHR has taken part in electoral supervision since 1995 and continues to until this present day. In addition, the organization constructed a guide for electoral supervision where sample questions and answers are available for supervisors. The guide also provides information on the Egyptian electoral procedures as well as the set of required skills to approach reoccurring violations of human rights. This guide put together by the EOHR does not only include Egyptian standards of supervision but also regional and international barometers. EOHR makes sure to distribute this guide to electoral supervisors in all governorates.
