The Egyptian Organization for Human Rights (EOHR) welcomes the release of a number of activists and calls for the release of the other prisoners charged with demonstration cases

On Thursday 25/08/2016 the judge of appeal/ Shubra Al Khema Court upheld the release of the lawyer and human right defender Malek  Adly   after accepting the appeal submitted by him concerning the decision of police custody, 15 days, on the charge of Dissemination of false news on Tiran and Sanafir or the Red sea islands case that might disrupt public order, attempting to disturb the security of state and attempting to overthrow the Constitution along with the ruling government,  being art of the associations aims at hindering the implementation of the country’s Constitution and legislation. The Egyptian Organization for human rights (EOHR) calls for closing the file on the case of NGOs’ foreign funding

On Monday 15/8/2016 Cairo criminal court had ordered the confiscation of 7 personas’ property: Gamal Eid and Hossam Bahgat and their families and Abd Al Hafez Tael, Bahi Al Din Hasan , Mostafa Al Hassan and Mostafa Mahmoud till the end of the ongoing investigation in 17 September on the charge of receiving a foreign funding from the external donors  by more than $1.5 Million which is a breach of the provisions of the Egyptian law. The Egyptian Organization for Human Rights (EOHR) calls for the abolishment of the ministry of justice’s draft-law on showing the demonstrations’ misdemeanor in the criminal record.

The Egyptian Organization for Human Rights expresses its deep concern towards the draft-law of the ministry of justice that was issued to modify the minister’s decision on the department of precedents which resulted in showing the issued sentences of Terrorism, Demonstrations and peaceful assemble in the criminal record[1] of the citizens who committed those misdemeanors. The Egyptian Organization for Human Rights (EOHR) calls for the abolishment of the press-restricting sentences

EOHR expresses its worries towards the issued sentence against the journalist in Al Ahram Gate[1] as he was given one year prison sentence by Boulaq Abu Al Alla court and he was convicted in absentia. Beside Hesham Younis who was ordered to pay a fine of 10,000 EGP in the lawsuit filed by Ahmed Al Zend , the head of the Judges Club and the ex minster of justice, against them.   Read the rest of this entry »
