The Anti-terrorism observatory heavily condemns the murder of the chief of the ninth armored division.

The anti-terrorism observatory expresses its deep condemnation concerning the murder of the chief of the ninth division-military staff/ Adel Ragy as he was murdered yesterday, 22/10/2016, by a group of unknowns who shoot him during his way to work which caused to his death leaving his private guard injured.

Consequently, EOHR believes that such incident is considered to be a clear violation to the right to life which is the supreme human right at all which was guaranteed under the international covenants on human rights such as the universal declaration on human rights Article 3 “Everyone has the right to life, liberty and security of person” and other constitutions. Additionally, the same right was guaranteed in the international covenants on the civil and political rights Article 6 “Every human being has the inherent right to life. This right shall be protected by law. No one shall be arbitrarily deprived of his life”. Furthermore, the UN commission on the civil and political rights in its general assembly pointed to the right to life as the supreme right that shouldn’t be violated even in the state of emergency.

Thus, EOHR calls for a quick investigation in this incident and to bring those perpetuators to justice as soon as possible and EOHR encourage deterrent punishment for them to prevent the occurrence of such incidents in the future.

On his part, Hafez Abu Seada- President of EOHR- confirmed that the above-mentioned incident is a gross violation to the right to life and it’s also contradict with all the international covenants on human rights especially that this case isn’t the first case of  assassination which resulted in terrorizing the civilians and  promoting instability and chaos.

Moreover, Abu seada affirmed that these incidents are targeting the Egyptian society and our country in general consequently we all have to stand together to face this blind terrorism and to eliminate this phenomenon.
