The committee on Human Rights Organizations has modified a draft on the Law of Associations that demands for the abolishment of the old NGO law, as well as the adoption of The Ministry of Solidarity’s (MOS) NGO law[i].

A committee on behalf of Human Rights organizations had gathered, Monday the 26th of November of 2018, in a meeting held in the Egyptian Organization for Human Rights headquarters to discuss the President of the Republic initiative regarding the Law on NGOs. Read the rest of this entry »

On Sunday, 11/11/2018, the South Cairo Criminal Court sentenced a police officer at Al Mokattam police station to three years in prison and a fine of 200 Egyptian pounds. EOHR welcomes Al Sisi’s initiative to amend NGO law

The Egyptian Organization for Human Rights (EOHR) welcomes the initiative launched by President Abdel Fattah Al Sisi to amend the notorious NGO law, law No. 70 of 2017. EOHR calls once more on the President and Parliament to repeal this law and draft a new one in line with Egypt’s constitution and Internationa legal obligations that supports and enhances the freedom of civil society in Egypt.
