In partnership with the National Council and the Egyptian Organization for Human Rights (EOHR).. Discussion on the NGO’s law in Egypt


On the sidelines of the 40th Session of the United Nations Human Rights Council, an event on “The Law of NGOs in Egypt” will take place tomorrow at the United Nations Palace in Geneva (Room XXVII), starting at 12 noon.



The event is organized by the National Council for Human Rights in Egypt, in partnership with the Arab Organization for Human Rights and the Egyptian Organization for Human Rights, that aims to examine the repercussions related to Law No. 70 of 2017 and to discuss the miscellaneous demands which were addressed through four paths of community consultations, in which the National Council for Human Rights led one of them, the Egyptian Organization for Human Rights (EOHR) led a second path, the Egyptian Ministry of Social Solidarity led a third path. The last one was led by the Egyptian NGOs Union in order to create unified visions to amend the law which addresses the crisis of NGOs and conforms to international and constitutional standards of freedom of association.
The event will be attended by representatives of Egyptian, Arab and international civil society organizations, government delegations and representatives of competent UN organizations.
The participants will witness the presentations by Prof. Mohamed Fayek, President of the National Council for Human Rights, Alaa Shalabi, President of the Arab Organization for Human Rights, Mohsen Awad, former Secretary General of the Arab Organization for Human Rights and member of the National Council for Human Rights and Dr. Hafez Abu Saeda, President of the Egyptian Organization for Human Rights (EOHR) and member of the National Council for Human Rights.
