EOHR condemns the Israeli assault on

 Egyptian Coptic Christian priests in East Jerusalem

On the morning of October 24th, 2018, a group of Coptic Christian priests staged a peaceful demonstration in front of the Deir Al Sultan monastery in Jerusalem to protest unauthorized Israeli renovation of the sight. The priests however were not allowed to exercise their right to peaceful assembly as Israeli law enforcement officials moved to forcefully disperse them and in the process, they violently assaulted the priests and arrested one of them who was later released. The incident drew condemnations from the Egyptian government, Al-Azhar and the Coptic Church. Read the rest of this entry »

The Court of Cassation issues its ruling on the case known as “insulting the judiciary”, EOHR calls for the release of Mounib, al-Zayat, Qandil and al-Fakharani

 

The Court of Cassation ruled on Monday 15/10/2018 to reject the appeal of former president Mohammed Morsi and 17 other defendants, and reaffirmed sentences ranging from 3 years of imprisonment and a 30,000 EGP fine in the case known publicly under as the “case of insulting the judiciary”. EOHR’s memorandum on Qatari violations of International Human Rights law

The Ghofran tribe has been subjected to a series of horrendous violations by the Qatari State. A number of fundamental rights and international human rights instruments have been blatantly violated by the Qatari authorities contradicting their international obligations and moral responsibitly as a state. The Egyptian Organization for Human Rights (EOHR) decided to adopt the case of Al Ghofran to publicize their just case and help them in reclaiming their stolen rights. EOHR in this report lists a number of the major violations of international human rights law that the Qatari state has committed against thousands of members of Al Ghofran tribe. EOHR holds its second Side Event at the UN head quarters in Geneva

The Egyptian Organization for Human Rights (EOHR) held its second parallel event on the sidelines of the 39th session of the Human Rights Council at the UN headquarters in Geneva. The seminar was titled “Terrorism and Human Rights in Egypt: Compensation for Victims of Terrorism” and the role of Qatar in its support. The speakers included Dr. Hafez Abu Saada, president of EOHR, Mr. EssamShiha, the Secretary Genearl of EOHR , Dr. Salah Salam, member of the National Council for Human Rights (NCHR), Mr. AlaaShalabi, Secretary General of the Arab Organization for Human Rights (AOHR), and Hamad Khaled Al Marri, representing the Qatari Al Ghofran tribe.
