The Egyptian Organization for Human Rights

The Egyptian Organization for Human Rights (EOHR) holds an open discussion meeting for the Egyptian civil society organizations on January 19, 2012 in order to launch the “Free Civil Society” campaign, which aims at drafting a new code for NGOs instead of code no. 84, year 2002. The meeting, held at the headquarters of EOHR, will be participated by political and human rights activists, representatives of civil society organizations and political parties and professors of law. On January 11, 2012, Hafez Abu Seada, the head of the Egyptian Organization for Human Rights (EOHR) submitted the complaint no. 166, year 2012 against the journalist Emad Said Miki, who published articles of America in Arabic on many websites. On January 9, 2012, North Giza Prosecution General officially heard the statement of Mr. Hafez Abu Seada, Attorney at Law, the head of the Egyptian Organization for Human Rights (EOHR) on his complaint against Al Wafd E-Gate represented by the Editor in Chief Adel Sabry and the Arab Media Network (Moheet) represented by Salah Abdel Aziz Ibrahim Bedewy in addition to America in Arabic represented by Emad Meki. The abovementioned bodies published news entitled “Wikileaks uncovered scandals of foreign financed entities”. The fake news included purposed fabricated information on Wikileaks cable mentioning secret US finance to political activists during the last few years in addition to holding secret meetings with them in the US embassy in Cairo. The Egyptian Organization for Human Rights (EOHR) welcomes the decision of the Egyptian concerned authorities for reopening the Arab Center for Independence of the Judiciary and the Legal Profession (ACIJLP). Police officers from Misr Al Kadima Police Station handed the headquarters to Mr. Naser Amin, the head of ACIJLP on January 8, 2012, following up all the legal regulations and the staff members began practicing their usual works.
