 The Egyptian Organization for Human Rights (EOHR) expresses its deep concern regarding parliament’s decision to amend Judicial authority law 46 of 1972, administrative prosecution law of 1958, the State Lawsuits Authority law of 1963 and law 47 of the state council. EOHR condemns the Church bombings in Tanta and Alexandria

The Egyptian Organization for Human Rights (EOHR) strongly condemns the bombings that targeted two churches in Egypt’s nile delta. The bombings coicided with Palm Sunday which is celebrated by millions of Christians all over Egypt. The first bombing targeted St. George church in Tanta, the bomb killed over 30 people and injured more than 50. The second bombing targeted St. Mark Church in Alexandria where Coptic Patriarch Tawadros was leading prayer. The Suicide bomber detonated himself at the Church gates when he was detected by policemen securing the church. The Egyptian Organization for Human Rights (EOHR) voices its serious concerns regarding what appears to be a form of forced displacement of coptic christian families from the city of Al Arish the capital and administrative centre of the restive North Sinai governrate. The christian citizens started feeing their homes recentley after extremist terrorist groups most notably the ISIS affiliate Wilayet Sina’a issued threats against them warning them to leave or die, and in fact more than half a dozen christian individuals were murdered over the past weeks and a house belonging to a christian family was burned by these groups in what appears to be an effort to force christians out of the area Read the rest of this entry »

The Egyptian Organization for Human Rights (EOHR) expresses its concern regarding the ministry of interior’s decision to ammend the prison charter. These ammendmendts included changes to 4 articles of the charter that cover issues such solitary confinment, the maximum age for children in the prison’s child care facilities, the regulations for the use of force with prisoners, and the regulations of the visits and inspections conducted by the National Council for Human Rights of prisons.
