EOHR submits a draft legistlation on the compensation of vicitims of Terrorism to Egypt’s House of Representatives

Out of the Egyptian Organization for Human Rights (EOHR) belief in the supreme principles and values of human rights, and our of EOHR’s recognition of the sacrifices of the Egyptian Police, Armed Forces people in their existintial war on terror; EOHR has submitted a draft law on the compensation of vicitims of terrorism to the suggestions and compaints commitee of Egypt’s House of Representatives. The law stipulates that the state should compensate victims of terrorism be them policemen, soldiers or civilians as follows. 1 million EGP to the family of every martyr who lost his life in a terrorist attack, and a monthly pension of 2,500 EGP in addition to their original pensions. and demands the suspension of the foreign funding case

 

The Egyptian Organization for Human Rights (EOHR) condemns the arrest of Azza Sulieman the director of  the Centre for Egyptian Women’s legal assistance (CEWLA), and calls upon the authorities to suspend investigations of case 173 of the year 2011 also known as the foreign funding case. The prosecutor landed three charges of Mrs Sulieman; those charges are conducting civil society related activities in an illegal manner, recieving funding in illicit ways, and tax evasion. The Egyptian Organization for Human Rights (EOHR) expresses its deep concern regarding parliament’s decision to pass the controversial NGO law, and calls upon President Abdel Fattah Al Sisi not to ratify this unconstitutional law that contradicts Egypt’s international legal obligations.
